During the summer or wintertime we offer Danish language School at International People’s College. The courses are two or three weeks long and the main focus is learning Danish language, but also getting insights into the Danish Culture and Society – i.e. by lectures, cultural events and excursions in Denmark.
At International People’s College we have hosted English and Danish language courses for more than 35 years. With our unique mixture of language classes optimised to all levels (from beginners to university level) and introductions to key aspects of Danish culture and society we offer a unique framework for anyone interested in Denmark and the Danes.
Every morning in the week days you will begin the day with Danish language lessons where you will participate in workshops on Danish grammar, phonetics, pronunciation, syntax, and the historical development of the Danish language. All classes are small to ensure you benefit the most from the course. Our classes are led by experienced instructors who are passionate about teaching Danish to students from all over the world. We believe in interactive and engaging learning experiences. Our classes include a variety of activities, discussions, and multimedia resources to enhance your language skills.
Learning a language is not just about grammar and vocabulary; it’s about understanding the culture. Our courses integrate cultural elements, helping you gain insights into Danish traditions, customs, and way of life. You will get lecture series where you can study several subjects in depth, for example Danish art and design, film, politics, and literature.
In the weekends we will go on excursions, meet the Danes, have ‘hyggelige‘ times around the bonfire and other optional arrangements, but you will also have leisure time to do exactly what you want. Read more about the local area.
When studying Danish language while you live in Denmark for three weeks you get the opportunity to practice the Danish language on a daily basis. Not only in classes, but also when you go outside campus and talk to the Danes. This way you learn the Danish language much better and faster.
After completing the requirements of the course a certificate will be issued as to document your new skills in Danish language.
During the Danish Language course, we offer two full-day excursions around the region (both are included in the price). The first one is going to take you on a tour of Northern Zealand visiting some of the most magnificent spots to see, not to mention one of Europe’s most charming museums for modern art, Louisiana. The second excursion will be a guided tour to the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen, with plenty of time to visit all your favorite spots.
Apart from an excellent Danish language program we offer a cosy, nice and safe environment in which to learn Danish language. You will engage with students from all over the world, make friendships, have fun, learn from one another and share cultural peculiarities. We offer nice accommodation (either in single or double rooms), delicious food, a decent sport hall, a wonderfully lush park with a small beautiful lake and a bonfire place where you can spend evenings dreaming around the fireplace. We quite simply offer you a place where you have no worries, plenty of friends, possibility to relax, watching movies or TV, play pool or ‘fussball’ (read more About IPC here), while you learn Danish language in Denmark.
IPC is located close to the sea, so you could head down to the beach for a refreshing swim or go treasure hunting in idyllic downtown Helsingør. You can also hop on the train to Copenhagen (read more about Copenhagen), which is only a 45-min ride away, or board the ferry for a 20-min trip to Helsingborg, Sweden.

“I think the mixture between language classes, excursions and lessons about the Danish culture and society is a unique way of getting to understand the Danish way of living. I expected a lot from the course – but got even more“, Leon from Mexico.
“I learned so much from this course. My mom is Danish and now I can speak Danish with her and my other Danish relatives, while I also have insight in my cultural background – this was perfect!” Diana from USA.

Learning a language can be challenging so we will do our utmost to make sure that the perfect conditions for learning are available. We use the Common European Framework Reference (CEF/CEFR) to determine the levels of individual students. If you are unfamiliar with the CEF, please take your time to look through this overview before marking your level of English in the application form. Please try to be as precise and honest as possible – it’s for your own benefit! After you have been officially accepted we will send you an online Oxford Online Placement Test so we can verify you language level to help place you in a class with a suitable level to maximize your learning potential.
