More information will follow, and teaching material will be sent to participants prior to the course. We will announce the final program in the beginning of 2021.

Please join this Facebook Event if you want to be updated with the different activities happening at the course.

Nb. You will experience the official opening of the WorldPride 2021 in Copenhagen when you attend the WorldPride 2021: LGBTQIA+ and Human Rights Course, but other WorldPride activities will happen in the following week (17th – 23rd of August). Students attending the one-week course are more than welcome to join but need to pay their own expenses and arrange for accommodation elsewhere.

Felicity folk high school staff at international People's College in Denmark

“LGBTQIA+ issues are not an afterthought, they are essential to building a world that is fair and sustainable for all, I can’t wait to spend a week bringing the so called “margins”to the mainstream, and thereby challenging the heteronormative world norm. Let’s help build a world where every gender, size, colour and sexuality fits” , Felicity Markdal.

Felicity holds a number of degrees and will soon finish her third masters in at Linköping University. Felicity has taught Gender studies at IPC for 6 years following her passion to acknowledge and cater for people’s diversity of intersections, and end as many types of discrimination and oppression as possible. Felicity has trained as a secondary teacher and her professional career has centered on teaching in different settings, whether that be story-telling for peace in libraries in the UK or working to address gender-inequality with the South African government.

International People’s College – 100 years with a positive focus on Diversity

Every year International People’s College attend the Pride Festival in Copenhagen to show support to the fight for equal rights within LGBTQIA+ issues. This year Copenhagen is hosting the biggest Danish event within human rights and diversity in 2021 – WorldPride – and we take the opportunity to put an extra focus on human rights and LGBTQIA+ issues when we offer a one week course with this focus.

International People’s College was founded with the belief that world peace is created through understanding. If people from around the world got to know each other better by living and learning together at International People’s College, they would discover that diversity enriches our lives and expands our horizons. Now, a century later, the same idea drives us, and diversity and human rights are core values at IPC.

Examples of work within Gender and Sexuality at International People’s College

Students at International People’s College choose their own classes in beginning of term and since a lot of the classes on offer are connected with the core values at the school topics within Human Rights and Gender and Sexuality are represented in different ways. Take a look at the different classes here.

You can also watch this film to see how the class ‘Intersectionality’ has worked with the topic ‘Hysteria’ in Autumn 2020.
