Development Management

Teacher(s): Gertrud Tinning

Lessons: 4/week

We can’t sit on our hands and rely on governments to change an unfair and unsustainable world. We have to start acting ourselves. Being an agent of change, you need not only to understand the problems you want to solve, but you also need tools to implement the changes.

Are you serious about being an agent of change? Would you like to create and implement a development project in your home area?Projects can deal with many different problems it is all up to you and your group.

Examples of projects students have worked with:

  • Youth unemployment
  • Loneliness
  • Sustainable urban gardening
  • Fighting rape-culture
  • LGBTQ rights
  • Reduction of plastic use

In this Folk High School Class – Development Management – students work in groups and develop “real life development project”, using Logical Framework Approach, which is a mainstream management tool used by development organizations all over the world. Some of the projects developed in this class are now being implemented in e.g Vietnam, Ghana, Denmark and Tanzania.

You will be guided through the different steps of a Logical Framework Approach, and most of the work will be done in groups.

We offer nearly 40 different subjects and classes. View the alphabetical list here.
