NewsArcade@Classroom – A new approach to Media Literacy Education

At IPC, we believe in equipping young people with the digital literacy and critical thinking skills needed to navigate today’s media landscape. That’s why we are thrilled to join the EU project NewsArcade@Classroom – Seriously Play the News in the Classroom, a project that enhances media and information literacy education through interactive and gamified learning experiences.

Play the News

Building on the success of the NewsArcade – Seriously Play the News! project, this initiative adapts and expands the existing NewsArcade Authoring Tool to better serve educators and students aged 12-25 across Europe.

Through NewsArcade@Classroom, students will engage in critical thinking, digital literacy, and media analysis in an immersive and interactive way. By gamifying news storytelling, the project fosters deeper engagement with traditional media while helping young people navigate the complex digital landscape.

A a cross-border collaboration to engage students and educators

Our goal is to empower students to become active, informed participants in society—protecting democratic values and encouraging thoughtful civic engagement.

At the same time, NewsArcade@Classroom supports educators by providing innovative tools and resources to enhance media literacy instruction. The project enables teachers to inspire students and bring media education to life in classrooms across different regions.

As a cross-border collaboration, NewsArcade@Classroom promotes knowledge-sharing and best practices between partners and stakeholders across Europe. By working together, we aim to create a more connected and resilient media literacy landscape for future generations.

Project Results

During project period, 2025-2027, IPC will contribute to the following project results:

  • Engage students in defining news values to inform the development of educational formats through a youth forum.
  • Provide practical skills and knowledge to students for critically analyzing news content and navigating digital media through workshops using the NewsArcade game.
  • Engage youth in hacking the NewsArcade method to enhance its relevance and effectiveness and enhance their active citizenship and critical thinking skills.
