International People’s College welcomes Nelima Lassen as New Principal

Elsinore, Denmark – March 11, 2024

The International People’s College (IPC) in Helsingør has just appointed Nelima Lassen as its new Principal. Nelima Lassen has a solid background in international leadership and a deep understanding of the values that the college stands for. Serving as Vice Principal since August 2023 – and as Acting Principal since January 2024 – Nelima has already made significant contributions to IPC’s mission of promoting peaceful democratic global development and creating a space for global dialogue.

Before joining the International People’s College, Nelima Lassen worked as a leader for the Red Cross in Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. Her experience with the Red Cross has given her a profound understanding of active citizenship and global engagement – something she brings to her leadership at IPC.

“I am very excited to take on the role as Principal at IPC,” says Nelima. “IPC has a long history of building international understanding and peace, and I am committed to empowering people from all over the world to play an active part in making the world more sustainable, democratic and peaceful”.

As Principal, Nelima will have overall responsibility for the college’s operations and development. Her vision is to create a diverse and inclusive environment where students from different cultures are empowered to make a positive difference in the world.

“We are excited to welcome Nelima Lassen as our new Principal,” says Toni Michelsen, Chairperson of the International People’s College’s Board. “Her extensive experience from the Red Cross in international development and youth work, combined with her passion for intercultural dialogue, makes her the ideal leader for the college. The board is looking forward to collaborating with our new Principal.”

Nelima Lassen was herself a student at the International People’s College in 1996 – an experience that helped shape her worldview.

“As a student at the International People’s College, I became aware of the diversity of the world and the global challenges and basic needs that unite us as people across cultures. It is incredibly enriching to be part of giving students an experience of being part of something greater and providing them with skills and tools to make a positive difference in the world,” says Nelima Lassen, Principal of the International People’s College.
