After three years of diligent work, on the 10th of December 1948, the UN Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It was a proud day for the assembly, but an essential moment for human beings all over the world.
This year is the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and therefore a perfect moment to stop and think about the true effects of the milestone document. Is it still valid after all these years? And is it truly universal, or a Western concept that is not representative of the whole world?
We value human rights at International People’s College and we find it more relevant than ever to discuss the declaration. We welcome everybody with an interest in Human Rights to the seminar.
International People’s College, a Danish højskole (eng. Folk High School) in Helsingør, was founded in 1921 in the wake of the first World War as a peace initiative.
