Which role does NATO play in the war between Ukraine and Russia? And what are the possibilities for a cease-fire or peace negotiations in the conflict? These are questions Flemming Splidsboel Hansen will elaborate on when the senior researcher comes to the International People’s College to give a lecture on the war between Ukraine and Russia on the 27th of March.
Flemming Splidsboel Hansen will give us an overall status of the current war in Ukraine and present different views on the war looking at it from various perspectives. I.e., which role do NATO and the other partners have in the war? How does the neighboring countries react to the war? What are the long-term consequences for both Ukraine and Russia, but also the rest of Europe and the global world? Flemming Splidsboel Hansen will tell us how he sees the war develop during the next 6 – 12 months and give us information on how the conflict might affect us all in the future. Furthermore, he will focus on how misinformation plays a central role in the warfare.
Flemming Splidsboel Hansen is a PhD. Senior researcher at the Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS). He especially does research into the conditions in the post-Soviet space – including in for instance Russia and Ukraine. His thematic focus is on domestic developments, foreign policy and the use of military possibilities. He is a frequently used commentator in Denmark when it comes to the current war in Europe.
Flemming Splidsboel Hansen is currently focusing on information and misinformation in relation to war. As part of this he is also concentrating on the use of new technology (in particular Artificial Intelligence) in the dissemination and combating of disinformation and in the collection and processing of data in the military battle space.
