Einstein said that we cannot fix problems using the same thinking that we created those problems with. Understanding and eradicating world conflict requires that we take a journey through the thinking that caused it and the creativity that can get us out of it. Taking Einstein as our “guru” in this course we seek to understand what has happened in international conflict, from civil to world wars, from past to future wars, and then to use creativity and different thinking to understand how to build more peace, whether through the United Nations, Regional organisations, NGOs or education. Part history lesson, part innovation, this course helps you to understand and change the world.
Folk High School Peace and Conflict Studies will teach you how to analyse and understand international conflicts from the perspectives of different world theorists and models. In addition to understanding and analysing the foundations of and reasons for peace in the world today. You become capable of analyzing and understanding international conflict by yourself, in addition to being furnished with a library of peace building tools to help you and others solve conflicts on multiple levels.
We work with discussions, conflict simulations, project work, lectures, film and more to learn about international conflicts of the past, present and future.
