The world today is undeniable interconnected in many ways. International relations and politics are shaping our world and sometimes we do not even realize how deeply it is affecting our everyday life.
In this class we will focus on analyzing and discussing the way International Relations, Politics and Diplomacy work. We will look at the role countries and international organizations (including the United Nations System) have, not only in general aspects of international politics, policies and norms, but also in relation to specific issues that affect our daily life: from security and peacebuilding, to refugees, poverty, health, workers rights, migration, food, agriculture, environment, etc.
You will be introduced to the main international organizations, mainly the United Nations System and its 15 specialized sgencies, programmes and funds.
We will discuss the role international politics and diplomacy play in national and global decision-making processes. It will give you the tools to analyze and understand the role of international politics and diplomacy in a globalized and interconnected world.
