N.b. – Environmental Studies is now a part of the Green Activism line at IPC.
Environmental problems including global climate change is the most concerning challenge of our time. Environmental problems are complex and there are no easy solutions. At the same time the challenges we are facing should also be seen as opportunities for creating a more sustainable future for all.
In Folk High School Environmental Studies you will explore some of the major environmental challenges that the worlds is facing today and how we can actively support a more sustainable way of living on this planet. We will focus on subjects such as global climate change, composting, renewable energy, water scarcity, pollution, waste, biodiversity, forest and farming systems.
We will work with small experiments and projects, student presentations, observations and local understanding through excursions to eg. the local Water Treatment Plant, Recycling Station and forest. Do expect a relatively active class where we will often be outdoors – so be able to ride a bicycle is an advantage, but not a must.
